later rover kv6 engines had no major issues , i had an mg zs 180 with the same engine the main issue is the belts being changed all 3 of them

I bought one , I loved it, I slept in my garage the first night staring at it. 3,000 km later, there was a little rattling in the rear, so I took it to Ferrari. New Belts, plugs, fluids - they had to take the engine out to do the belts. The Service cost me $ 15,000.00 I sold it immediately, before anything serious went wrong.

I always thought freelanders were crap. I have a D2 However in the uk here are a lot of them on the road still - people seem to keep them alive I also had a mk2 diesel freelander as a loaner car, bmw engine I think It was actually very nice

I have a TD4 SE (the *only* decent engine they ever put in it) and it's doing me well. The secret is to have a TD4 and do regular maintainence, then they're fine.

Interesting the previous owners had the $$$ and enthusiasm to maintain and store it all this time. You don't see them around anymore. You may want to start a new Freelander owners club. 😂
